Tovino Thomas’ Malayalam action thriller Kala is all set to be dubbed into Telugu. The dubbed version of the film will be released on Aha Video, an exclusive Telugu OTT platform, on June 4. Tovino Thomas took to social media to make this announcement.
The Malayalam version of the movie was released on Amazon Prime Video last week. Kala, hailed as a visual treat for action film lovers, had initially released in theatres on March 25 and received excellent reviews from audiences for its gritty and raw action sequences.
Kala’s filmmakers proudly carry an A certificate - which allows only legal adults to watch the film- awarded by the Central Board of Film Certification for showing graphic violence. They wanted to portray unadulterated violence on screen and with the tagline of “The feel bad film of the year”, the filmmakers also tried to warn the audience of the violence that is unleashed in the narrative.
The movie revolves around the life of Shaji, the proud son of a landlord who has been consistently failing in his businesses. His father has a low opinion of him, which leads Shaji to devise a plan to steal some peppercorns stored by his father in order to pay off some of his debts. However, one of Shaji’s helpers is seeking revenge and hatches a plot to steal Shaji’s dog. This is the cause of a violent fight erupting between the two.
Set in a scenic and underlit plantation forest, the movie showcases the animal instincts inside a human. The movie tries not to be centred on a single character and equally balances between two sides of the story.
