The release of Lokesh Kanagaraj's Vikram is just five days away, and promotional activities shouldered by Kamal Haasan has been going on in full swing. The veteran actor-filmmaker was present along with Narain, who plays an important role in the film, at the pre-release event at Kochi.

When quizzed him about the changes he witnessed in the cinema industry in the last four years, during the period when he took an unplanned sabbatical, Kamal said that he is glad about OTT platforms ruling the roost now. He also expressed disappointment over the fact that it took a long time for various digital avenues to establish here.

He said, "I'm angry that it took many years for OTT platforms to become popular among film lovers. I spoke about the need to have such avenues 12 years ago. I knew that the OTT revolution would happen, no matter what. I was quite hopeful about it."

On what kept him busy for the last four years, he said he was more than happy to work for the people after foraying into politics. "The kind of things I did for people was what I should have done 40 years ago. I tried to instill political awareness among people," he noted and added that he has always been his biggest fan and critic.

Kamal explained, "All these years, I myself have been my biggest fan. And I myself have been my nastiest and daring critic. While working with many youngsters in Vikram, I ensured that I behaved in the way my seniors behaved to me when I was a youngster."

On the allegation of mocking the central government in the song Pathala Pathala, Kamal said that he will continue appreciating and criticizing the central government whenever necessary, irrespective of the political party.
