Karan Johar made his directorial comeback after 7 years with 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani'. While Ranveer Singh played the role of Rocky Randhawa, Alia Bhatt was seen as Rani Chatterjee in the film. 'RRKPK' got a thumbs up from both critics and audiences alike. It ruled at the box office for several weeks before other big Hindi movies released. For that matter, KJo even received congratulatory messages and calls on his film's success. However, the filmmaker didn't get a call from Sanjay Leela Bhansali despite having called him several times.

In conversation with designer Prabal Gurung, Karan Johar was asked if he got a call from Bhansali after 'RRKPK' success. To this, KJo said, "He’s actually never called me after any film. But I have called him several times." At the same time, Karan confessed that filmmakers 'very rarely' call him. However, Johar admitted, "This film.. particularly, I got a lot of calls, and I was very grateful."

About the film

'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani's star cast also included veteran actors Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi. On the other hand, Churni Ganguly, Tota Roy Chowdhury and Anjali Anand were a part of the supporting cast. The film released on July 28, 2023 and enjoyed a successful run at the box office.

What's next for Karan Johar?

On the work front, Karan Johar will reportedly a back a movie featuring Salman Khan. Khan might play the role of a paramilitary officer in the film. According to media reports, it is going to be set against the backdrop of Indian army. The movie, to be bankrolled by KJo, will be directed by 'Shershaah' director Vishnuvardhan. The film is likely to go on floors by the end of this year.
