The Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 2, which hit the screens last Thursday, continues to storm the box office, despite facing stiff competition, from Vijay's Beast. According to the latest reports, the Prashanth Neel-directorial has collected Rs 676 crore, crossing what SS Rajamouli's Baahubali: The Beginning made (Rs 650 crore). KGF 2 is also winning the hearts of critics and film personalities from across the country. Karthi, who is awaiting the release of Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan, is the latest to heap praise on KGF 2. The Kaithi actor appreciated the "daringness to imagine something so big and presenting it with absolute style". Take a look at Karthi's tweet here:
KGF 2 is a sequel to the 2018 hit venture. The film narrates the story of gangster Rocky and his return to Kolar Gold Fields. A high octane period entertainer, the team had delivered a fantastic film, with its top-notch visuals, razor-sharp editing and excellent performances. "If you thought that KGF: Chapter 1 was an extended showreel of hero-worship, Chapter 2 takes that to another level. Right from his intro scene when he arrives in KGF in a chopper, to the end, Chapter 2 has Yash in pretty much every frame and if he ain’t there, whoever is has enough to say about Rocky Bhai that you almost feel his presence," reads the movie's review on OTTplay.
Right from the beginning, Yash seemed confident about the output of KGF 2, which quite reflected while he was promoting it. Yash had praised Prashanth Neel for "being a visionary" and expressed his gratitude to producer Vijay Kiragandur, for "displaying the courage to believe in a story like KGF 2." Further, when quizzed about Beast, one may recall Yash saying, "This is not an election where only one comes out as the winner. This is cinema. In my opinion, it is not KGF 2 versus Beast, but KGF 2 and Beast." Yash equally had good things to say about Thalapathy Vijay. "He is such a big star, who has been into the entertainment business for a long time. He is my senior. I am sure fans will watch both our films. Let us celebrate Indian cinema together."
