The latest episode of Koffee with Karan had two of the rising stars in Bollywood, Vicky Kaushal and Sidharth Malhotra, talking about their personal lives as well as some of their biggest projects in their careers. During a candid chat on the talk show, Vicky, for the first time, revealed the status of his much-anticipated superhero film The Immortal Ashwatthama.
When host Karan Johar asked the Uri actor about what transpires when a film that he is part of is cancelled, he said, “The disappointment stays with me for just one day. After a few hours, I stop being emotional about it and see the logic.”

This led the filmmaker to prod the actor about The Immortal Ashwatthama, which has been put on the backburner due to the pandemic. “I remember what it was for Ashwatthama, I was shooting for Govinda Naam Mera with Shashank (Khaitan) and I got a call that the were pulling the plug on the film for now. I actually had my trainer with me and I told him, ‘Let’s hit the gym and I told him to give me the most difficult workout’. That was the film which I had given two years to, in terms of prep and we were really close to start shooting.”
The Immortal Ashwatthama was announced on the first anniversary of Uri: The Surgical Strike, with Aditya Dhar helming the project that was touted to be an action superhero movie.
On the work front, Vicky will play the lead in Meghna Gulzar's Sam Bahadur, a film based on the life of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. He will also star in Govinda Naam Mera, opposite Bhumi Pednekar and Kiara Advani. He most recently wrapped up shooting with Sara Ali Khan for Laxman Utekar's untitled movie.
