The scientific community across the globe is worried about the potential effects of climate change in future that may include inevitability of longer periods of drought, frequent wildfires and intense tropical storms. The short Hindi drama titled L500 attempts to address that possibility of a chaotic future when humanity is on the verge of a breakdown and the protagonist frantically searches for a way out.

From what we know, the short film’s narrative paints a nightmarish image of a future world when the food crisis has catapulted as crops start to die out and refuse to grow. The soil itself is no longer suitable for farming, attracting land dealers and big corporate entities to use them for building factories and housing businesses. Earth's overall food chain is affected and its only hope happens to be L500 - A tablet that provides nutrition and satisfies one’s food quest for almost seven days!

Ronty Sheikh has written the story and directed it as well. The script is penned by Abhishek Bhattacharya. The cast of the film features Kartikey Tripathi, Biplab Dutta and Surajit Bhattacharyya in pivotal roles.

Celebrated auteur and author Satyajit Ray created an avatar of a brilliant elderly scientist called Professor Shonku, who invented plenty of offbeat gadgets and many solutions. Among his extraordinary inventions, Batika Indica reminded me of the capsule L500 because both of them can replace the requirement of food.

Just swallow a pill and you will feel no hunger for a limited span of time. To know more about the film, you’ll have to wait for its release.

L500 is currently doing the round of Film Festivals both nationally and internationally and its runtime is nine minutes and 46 seconds. The film is produced by a production house called Double Half.

Though we’ve learnt that it will be released soon on an OTT platform, but the makers want to keep further details under wraps for now.
