Vijay Deverakonda's next with director Puri Jagannadh, Liger, a sports drama in the making, is nearing completion. The film, which marks the Indian debut of boxing legend Mike Tyson, is in the last leg of the shoot. Liger will be officially complete after a brief schedule, which is expected to be shot soon. As a New Year surprise, the makers of Liger are planning a series of updates for fans about the film. While the first glimpse of the film will be out on December 31, there are a couple of updates planned for December 29 and 30 as well.
A 'big announcement video' will be released on December 29 at 10:03 am, followed by two special updates on December 30. A series of BTS (behind the scenes) stills is to be released at 10.03 am on December 30, while the same day will have the team launch a special insta filter as well. The climactic touch to these updates will land on December 31, with the first glimpse. In a poster confirming the same, Vijay Deverakonda, sporting a ponytail, is seen taking a break, before heading for a big fight in the ring.
Liger is jointly produced by Puri Jagannadh, Charmme Kaur, Karan Johar and Apoorva Mehta under Puri Connects and Dharma Productions. Ananya Pandey plays the female lead while Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, Vishu Reddy, Ali, Makarand Desh Pandey and Getup Srinu essay crucial roles. The makers promise that it is going to be one of the biggest action extravaganzas in Indian cinema, dealing with mixed martial arts, that also features Legend Mike Tyson in a crucial role. Expectedly, audiences are eager to catch the breathtaking stunt sequences between Vijay Deverakonda and Mike Tyson.
The glimpse promises to be an ideal New Year gift for action junkies. Cinematographed by Vishnu Sarma, Thailand-based Kecha has been roped in as the stunt director. The film will hit theatres on August 25, 2022, exactly five years after Vijay Deverakonda's Arjun Reddy stormed the screens in 2017. Liger will simultaneously release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. Junaid Siddiqui is editing the film with Jonny Shaik Basha handling duties as an art director.
