Rushad Rana a.ka. Raghav
Our favourite sports captain, Raghav, a.k.a. Rushad Rana, gave up his sports career and embraced acting full time with minor roles in Mohabattein, Veer Zara, and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Today, he’s one of the busiest actors in Indian television and features in several popular family dramas on television such as in Kumkum Bhagya on Zee TV and Anupama on Star Plus. On the OTT front, he hosts the Voot true-crime show NRI Haadsa and has played bit parts in the Disney+ Hotstar showThe Great Indian Murder and the ZEE5 original Mithya.
Kishwer Merchant a.k.a. Nonie
The American-born-confused-desi, Nonie Kapoor flaunted an accent and was responsible for the infamous split between Alisha and Rafey when she arrived at DeNobili High. She’s since featured in several shows from Kasautii Zindagi Kii to Ek Hasina Thi. Kishwer even appeared on the 9th season of India’s most controversial reality show – Bigg Boss, with her beau Suyyash Rai. Today, Kishwer is a happy mommy and an influencer.
Purab Kohli a.k.a. Mazhar
Purab Kohli’s glow-up from Hip Hip Hurray’s Mazhar to desi Clooney has been real. He’s starred in critically-acclaimed films like My Brother Nikhil, Rock on, and Airlift. He played a crucial role in the Indian horror drama Typewriter on Netflix and headlined the 2019-2021 Disney+ Hotstar original thriller drama Out of Love co-starring Rasika Duggal. Kohli plays Akarsh Kapoor, a man who cheats on his wife and unravels a chain of events that puts everything he loves in danger. Way to go, Mazhar!
Peeya Rai Chowdhary a.k.a. Kiran
DeNobili’s rebel without a cause, Kiran loved to dance. Her most famous acting role since Hip Hip Hurray was in Gurinder Chadha’s romantic drama Bride and Prejudice. She played Lakhi Bakshi, a character inspired by Lydia Bennet from Jane Austen’s classic novel Pride and Prejudice. She was also in the news for her marriage to actor Shayan Munshi, the prime witness in the Jessica Lal murder case. Rai Chowdhary has since separated from Munshi, is now based in Goa and has founded a multi-disciplinary performing arts company called Omaggio with her partner Tino Sanchez.
Vishal Malhotra a.k.a John and Shahrok Bharucha a.k.a. Cyrus
Our favourite goofballs and best friends, John and Cyrus, seem to have gone their separate ways since leaving DeNobili High. While Vishal went on to build an illustrious acting career with roles in films like Ishq Vishq, Kismat Konnection, and Talash, Shahrok retired from acting and is currently a happily married man based in New Zealand.
If you’re nostalgic thinking about your favourite DeNobili High 12th graders, we have good news! You can now stream Hip Hip Hurray on Zee5. You’re Welcome!
