Aruvi

Starring actor Aditi Balan in the lead role, Aruvi is a social drama that takes a nuanced perspective about consumerism, patriarchy, and existential crisis through the eyes of a female protagonist. The film is directed by Arun Prabu Purushothaman, in his directorial debut and backed by Dream Warrior Pictures. Aruvi is about the titular character, a woman who opposes the constraints put on her by the society, as she seeks to bring the defects within the society plagued by it.

Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum

Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum is an anthology film within three segments. Directed by Vasanth, the film stars Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Karunakaran, Kalieswari Srinivasan, Sunder Ramu, among others. Told in three parts, Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum traces the life of three women from different time eras, who go through their own share of misogyny and patriarchy. Crippled by men around them, the anthology was critically well-received for the performances and writing. It won three National Film Awards, Best Feature Film in Tamil, Best Supporting Actress and Best Editing.

Koozhangal

Helmed by debutant PS Vinothraj, Koozhangal is an indie feature film that won accolades at the film festival ciruit and even got selected from India for the Best International Feature Film at the 94th Academy Awards (but however did not get nominated). Koozhangal is a meditative journey that a father and son undertake in order to bring the mother back to home. The film touches upon topics like domestic violence, social oppression, and dysfunctional human relationships, amid the backdrop of arid landscapes of Madurai.

Seththumaan

Seththumaan is directed by Thamzizh and is an adaptation of a story written by Perumal Murugan. A take on food politics and how it affects the caste ladder, Seththumaan is about how powerful oppressed caste members rope in an elderly man from lowered caste to cook pork dish for them. The film is backed by Pa Ranjith and brings out the societal stigma pig is associated with and those who rear them.

Nenjuku Needhi

Nenjuku Needhi is the remake of 2019 Hindi film Article 15. The film is directed by Arunraja Kamaraj and revolves around a police officer who has to take up a case of sexual harassment on the grounds of caste and gender. The film stars Udhaynidhi Stalin in the lead role.
