Since her 2014 debut in Heropanti, Kriti Sanon has established a career in Hindi film. Her portrayal of the titular character in the 2021 film Mimi earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Actress just lately. However, the star recently disclosed that, before agreeing to a project, she consults her mother.
Kriti, who most recently made an appearance alongside Tiger Shroff on Karan Johar's chat show Koffee With Karan, disclosed that she had turned down a few parts since her mother Geeta Sanon, a professor at Delhi University, didn't appreciate it. This also included the Netflix original series Lust Stories, which Kiara Advani eventually received when Karan proposed it to her. The movie received praise for accepting female sexuality.
Kriti said in the episode, “My mom said no to your (Karan Johar) role because she was not comfortable with the nature of the script, given the focus of it was only on sensual scenes. That is why she said better not to do it.” In Karan's chapter in the 2018 anthology Lust Stories, the female lead had a loud orgasm in front of her family.
During the earlier appearance of Kiara and Shahid Kapoor on Koffee With Karan, Karan said, “I had offered it to Kriti Sanon, the role… and she said that her mom didn’t allow her.”
Furthermore, Kriti cited her middle-class background as the reason why she relies on her mother's acceptance. She also mentioned on the show, “I come from a middle-class family and for them, controversial themes like these can be a little shocking. But I don’t always ask my mother.”
On Thursday, September 1 at midnight, Koffee With Karan will air an episode featuring Kriti and Tiger Shroff on Disney+ Hotstar.
On the work front, Kriti is anticipating the release of Rohit Dhawan's Shehzada opposite Kartik Aaryan. She'll also be in Varun Dhawan's Bhediya, which is directed by Amar Kaushik.
