Veteran filmmaker Ranjan Pramod, known for delivering blockbusters and superhits such as Meesa Madhavan, Manasinakkare, Achuvinte Amma, Naran, and Rakshadhikari Baiju, is gearing up to direct none other than Mammootty in his next project. The film will be produced by Mammootty himself, as confirmed by Ranjan in a recent interview.
Mammootty's last appearance on the big screen was in the film Christopher, which unfortunately turned out to be a colossal commercial and critical disaster. The movie hit theatres in February, following the highly appreciated performance by Mammootty in Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam. However, Christopher received unfavourable reviews from critics and failed to resonate with audiences, standing out as an outlier in Mammootty's recent filmography.

According to reports, Christopher barely managed to earn a little over Rs 5 crore from its theatrical run in Kerala. The film's disappointing performance extended to other parts of the country and overseas markets as well making it one of the biggest commercial disasters in Mammootty's career. The film was made on a budget of Rs 25 crore but its global collection didn't even exceed Rs 15 crore.
Mammootty recently completed shooting for Kannur Squad , which marks the directorial debut of renowned cinematographer Roby Varghese Raj. In addition to playing the lead role, Mammootty is also producing the film under his home banner, Mammootty Kampany.
Mammootty is now waiting for the release of Jeo Baby's Kaathal - The Core, in which he stars alongside Jyothika . Mammootty has also taken up the role of a producer for the film, which is currently in the post-production stage. The filmmakers are expected to announce the release date soon.
Mammootty will next join the sets of director Deeno's debut film, Bazooka , which also features Gautham Menon in a significant role.
