Called Sarojini, the film, produced by Visica Films, is being directed by composer-turned-filmmaker Vinay Chandra and will be made in Kannada and Hindi, with dubbed versions in Tamil and Telugu.

Sonal Monteiro, who was last seen in Roberrt, and is currently working on Yogaraj Bhatβs Garadi and Darling Krishnaβs Sugar Factory, is Bollywood bound. Earlier today, the actress announced that she is playing Sarojini Naidu in a biopic of the Nightingale of India, called Sarojini.

The film, directed by composer Vinay Chandra, for who Sarojini will be his directorial debut, with Sonal playing a younger Sarojini, and while Shantipriya, the sister of actress Bhanupriya, makes a comeback to cinema as the older version. The film will also have Hiten Tejwani in the role of Sarojini Naiduβs husband, Muthyala Govindarajulu Naidu, while Zarina Wahab will be seen in a pivotal role. The film is being made in Kannada and Hindi, with dubbed versions in Tamil and Telugu.
The film will go on floors in June across locations in Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Coorg. Speaking to an English daily, Vinay had said that the biopic will be an untold story of the life of the activist and poet and explore her personal life. Backed by Honey Chowdary and Charan Suvarna, and co-produced by Hemanth Gowda, the film made under Visica Films.
Apart from Garadi and Sugar Factory, Sonal is also awaiting the release of Banaras. She is also a part of Padavi Poorva, Shambo Shiva Shankara.
