After the tremendous success of The Family Man 2, Manoj Bajpayee is all set for his upcoming Netflix release. The anthology titled Ray is based on a few stories by the legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray. The anthology is headlined by Bajpayee, Ali Fazal, Kay Kay Menon and Harshvarrdhan Kapoor.
Bajpayee is over the moon as he’s been lauded for his performance in the recently released espionage show The Family Man 2 on Amazon Prime Video.
Talking about his first anthology, Bajpayee told SpotBoye, “It’s a one-hour story and is an adaptation which is directed by Abhishek Chaubey, featuring me and Gajraj Rao in the series. It was one of the most learning experiences working on that story. Not only because it was written by Mr Ray, but also in the manner that Abhishek and his writer have given an interpretation to it. And the wall that he has created and put these two characters into it, it was an amazing, amazing experience of living that world and creating that character.”
“I’m quite excited, I am very very proud of Ray and would love for the audience to watch and keep supporting my work. I am grateful for all their support,” the Gangs of Wasseypur star added.
Last month, the OTT giant released the teaser of this anthology revealing the first looks of the actors from their respective episodes. Starting from the quote ‘100 years of Ray,’ the video revealed the first look of the cast as well as the titles of the four stories in the anthology.
The first story is named ‘Forget Me Not’ featuring the Mirzapur star Ali Fazal. Following that, the second story titled ‘Bahurupiya’ stars Menon. Another one shows Bajpayee and Gajraj Rao shaking hands in a still from 'Hungama Hai Kyon Barpa,' while the last one is called ‘Spotlight’ featuring the Mirzya actor Harshvarrdhan.
Created by Sayantan Mukherjee, Ray also features Shweta Basu Prasad, Anindita Bose, Bidita Bag, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Radhika Madan, Chandan Roy Sanyal and Akansha Ranjan Kapoor in significant roles. The anthology is set to release on June 25 on Netflix.
