As we step into 2023, if there’s one thing that we’re optimistic about – it has to be the Bollywood movies that are slated to release this year. Let’s face it, in 2022, only a handful of movies managed to make waves on the big screen. But in 2023, we’re hopeful that Bollywood has a few heavyweights in store to inspire us to return to cinema halls.

As we step into 2023, if there’s one thing that we’re optimistic about – it has to be the Bollywood movies that are slated to release this year. Let’s face it, in 2022, only a handful of movies managed to make waves on the big screen. From Aamir Khan’s much-hyped Forest Gump remake Laal Singh Chaddha to Akshay Kumar’s family drama Raksha Bandhan, the list of flops in 2022 outweighed those that performed. But in 2023, we’re hopeful that Bollywood has a few heavyweights in store to inspire us to return to cinema halls. So for today’s List hai toh hit hai, we take a look at the most anticipated Bollywood movies of 2023!

Pathaan

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s Pathaan is the fourth instalment in the YRF Spy Universe. The movie has created a buzz ever since its announcement as it features the return of SRK as a lead after his four-year sabbatical. Set in the Middle East, the film sees an undercover cop and an ex-con working to take down a drug lord.

Mision Majnu

After the success of Shershaah and Thank God, Siddharth Malhotra will star in Mission Majnu, a spy thriller. Set in the 1970s, the film follows an Indian spy who is on a mission to expose a covert nuclear weapon operation in Pakistan. Rashmika Mandanna is starring opposite Siddharth Malhotra as Nasreen. The film is set to have its digital release on Netflix at the end of January.

Tiger 3

Salman Khan as Tiger and Katrina Kaif as Zoya are returning for the third instalment of the Tiger movie franchise. Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the film is set for release during the Diwali holidays in 2023. Shah Rukh Khan is expected to make a special appearance in the movie.

Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Kahani

Karan Johar’s directorial comeback film Rocky aur Rani ki Prem Kahani will follow the love story between the rich heir to Dhanlaxmi Enterprises and a middle-class girl. The movie will have a star-studded cast including Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.

Animal

Ranbir Kapoor will star in the magnum opus crime drama Animal. Helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the Telugu director known for Arjun Reddy and its Hindi remake Kabir Singh. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna opposite Ranbir Kapoor and is set to release in August this year.

Sam Bahadur

The biographical war drama stars Vicky Kaushal as Sam Manekshaw, the former Chief of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. The film will release at the end of the year and will star Sanya Malhotra as Manekshaw’s wife Silloo and Fatima Sana Shaikh as the former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
