On the occasion of India's 75th Independence Day, ZEE5 unveiled Mukhbir: The Story of a Spy as their upcoming original series. The series, which is directed by Shivam Nair and Jayprad Desai, tells the inspiring tale of an Indian secret agent in Pakistan who steps up to the plate to save his country and change the course of the war. This year, ZEE5 will debut the suspenseful spy thriller, which features major performances by Zain Khan Durrani, Prakash Raj, Adil Hussain, Barkha Bisht, Harsh Chhaya, Satyadeep Mishra, and Zoya Afroz.
The forgotten tale of India's secret agent, Mukhbir, who helped India win the 1965 war and who provided intelligence, is told in Mukhbir: The Story of a Spy. The eight-episode series, which is produced by Victor Tango Entertainment, pays respect to those unsung heroes who sacrifice their lives for the safety of the nation while remaining anonymous. The sacrifices they make for their country without ever being recognised or identified are the subject of this series, an intimate look.
In a statement on the occasion of India's 75th Independence Day, Manish Kalra, Chief Business Officer of ZEE5 India, said that they are delighted to announce Mukhbir: The Story of a Spy and are proud to bring the story of India's secret agent who played a monumental role with limited resources during the 1965 war to global audiences. They have continually worked to design a slate that highlights India's cultural diaspora, and legacy, and uncovers the untold tales of the unsung heroes as the largest native video streaming platform. One such tale with a captivating plot and a captivating plotline that will keep viewers glued to their screens is Mukhbir.
They are excited to collaborate with Victor Tango Productions to share this little-known tale with the public under the direction of Shivam Nair and the incredible performances of the star ensemble, who have brought this tale to life. This will help them diversify our creative ecosystem. They are interested in the feedback because they know that everyone connected to or belonging to the country will be moved by the show.
"Mukhbir is the unsung tale of a spy who braved the odds and single-handedly enabled India to dodge multiple aggressive advances from the enemy country during the 1965 war," stated Nimisha Pandey, Chief Content Officer: Hindi Originals, ZEE5. The period depicted in the story is one in which there were hardly any cutting-edge devices or technologies, espionage involved physically breaking through enemy lines, and there were no established spycraft norms. Espionage dramas are popular with viewers because they offer excitement and adventure, along with a realistic and humanistic character arc.
They want to take viewers on a journey with Mukhbir by telling the real-life narrative of a spy and highlighting significant occasions that occurred in India in the early 1960s. They are pleased to partner with Victor Tango Productions on this compelling tale, which Shivam Nair has directed and which features a stellar cast. They are also happy to introduce this series on the occasion of India's 75th anniversary of its declaration of independence. They are convinced that every viewer will be able to relate to this new ZEE5 series, which will inspire pride in our country and its heroes.
A period drama with actual historical events as the backdrop is both a challenge and an opportunity, according to producer Vaibhav Modi. Victor Tango is really appreciative that team ZEE5 gave him this opportunity, and he is extremely pleased with ourselves for turning this challenge into a fantastic series. It's a remarkable tale of how some heroic men and women operate covertly to protect India. Soon, Mukhbir: The Story of a Spy will make its exclusive debut on ZEE5.
