The success meet of Bangarraju which was held at Rajahmundry sometime ago turned out to be an emotional affair for Nagarjuna. The family entertainer, which is the sequel to Soggade Chinni Nayana (streaming on Jio Cinema, MX Player and Sun NXT), emerged as the winner among the Telugu films which released on the Sankranti festival season.
The veteran actor-producer was all praise for Tollywood audience for coming to theatres despite the rise in Omicron cases across the country and thanked them for continuously supporting the film industry.
In his speech, he said, "Many theatres in north India have been shut down due to poor occupancy and threat from the pandemic. But theatres here are going house full because of the love you have been showering on us. The entire film crew said that they were trusting my gut feeling with regard to the movie's performance at the box office. But my confidence has always been on the Telugu film lovers who never fail to encourage good entertainers."
He added that the success of Bangarraju has proved yet again that cinema and Sankranti go hand-in-hand. He also remembered his father and legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) during his speech and commemorated the birthday of the Tollywood icon Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR) which falls today. Terming NTR and ANR as the two eyes of Tollywood, Nag said it is the blessings of the latter which keeps him, Chaitanya and Akhil going.
He also added that he is not here to brag about the film's collections, but to thank the audience for the respect and love they have been showering on him for decades.
Nagarjuna also thanked the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, and informed that many good things are going to happen for the movie industry soon.
