Even though it has only been a few months since Shyam Singha Roy hit the big screens, it seems the film’s popularity is refusing to die down. The period drama, starring Nani in the lead, is reportedly in talks to get a Hindi remake.
According to a report in IANS, a popular production house is on the verge of nabbing the rights to have the film remade in Hindi and preparations to start work on the film is in full swing. The report also stated that the makers are considering casting Bollywood stars Shahid Kapoor and Ajay Devgn in the remake, while a female lead is yet to be decided. An official statement regarding the same is yet to be made. But, it is expected that an announcement would be made within a month.
Released in December last year, Shyam Singha Roy is a romantic period drama revolving around the theme of reincarnation. It tells the story of a young filmmaker in the present, whose efforts to helm a short film leads to some mysterious revelations from the past, and oscillates between the past and the present in its story.
The film featured Nani in a dual role. In addition to Nani, the film also starred Sai Pallavi and Krithi Shetty as the female leads, and also featured Abhinav Gomatam, Leela Samson, Madonna Sebastian, Jisshu Sengupta, and Rahul Ravindran in pivotal roles. The film was directed by Rahul Sankrityan and written by Janga Satyadev. Venkat Boyanapalli bankrolled the film under the banner of Niharika Entertainment.
Shyam Singha Roy is available to stream on Netflix in Telugu, Tamil as well as Malayalam.
