The last time there was an update about Hombale Films’ 12thproduction, the Santhosh Ananddram directorial Raghavendra Stores was late on April 13, when the banner released a teaser for the Jaggesh starrer, late at night, amid all the frenzy of the KGF: Chapter 2 theatrical outing. At the time, the team had mentioned that shooting for the film had been completed and it was rumoured to be the next release from the banner.

Today, Hombale Films announced that Raghavendra Stores will hit theatres on August 5. “Get ready for a delicious meal coming your way from Aug 5th, 2022,” announced the banner, making the film a Varamahalakshmi festive release. While fans are eagerly looking forward to the Jaggesh film, they reckoned that the release date is too close to that of Kiccha Sudeep’s fantasy action-adventure flick, which is coming out on July 28.

Santhosh’s film is a comedy in typical Jaggesh style. The teaser, which is a character introduction for Jaggesh’s Hayavadana, has him playing a cook, with great culinary skills, and yet remains unmarried in his 40s, something his co-workers rib him about. It almost feels like Jaggesh's version of 40-Year-Old Virgin. Although Shwetha Srivatsa is part of the film, she does not find space in the teaser that was released today. Raghavendra Stores, which has a tagline, ‘From 1972’, is the Navarasa Nayaka’s first-ever collaboration with Santhosh and Hombale Films. The actor has been quoted as saying, “The script of Raghavendra Stores mirrors family issues in society. We shot the film at 25 locations, and every place has an important role.”

Santhosh has earlier said that working with Jaggesh has been a learning experience for him. “It was an immense honour working with Jaggesh anna and experiencing the life lessons of his 40 years in the industry,” said the director.
