Tollywood director Chandra Sekhar Yeleti’s Check was a success when it was released in theatres in February 2021. The Telugu film was praised for its storyline, which revolves around a prisoner who recognises his skills in the game of Chess and wishes to play with Viswanathan Anand. This prison drama will be released on Sun NXT on May 14.

The film stars Priya Prakash Varrier as Yatra and Nithiin as Aditya, the prisoner. Officially announced in June 2013, the film was scheduled to start shooting in early 2020. But owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the plans of the filmmakers had to be pushed back and finally, the film was released in February 2021.

With a soundtrack composed by Kalyani Malik, the film received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike. The plot follows Aditya who has escaped from an orphanage, only to grow up to become a con artist. He falls in love with Yatra, who frames him as a terrorist and he ends up in prison with a death sentence. Here, Aditya slowly gains interest in chess and starts participating in competitions. After a turn of events, he ultimately plans a secret escape in the midst of a game with Viswanath Anand.

Check, which collected over Rs 14 crore in its opening weekend, will stream on Sun NXT from May 14.
