Actor Vikram's long-delayed film Cobra is finally having a theatrical release on August 11 this year. Srinidhi Shetty, the actress who shot to fame with the KGF franchise, plays the female lead in the film that also stars Irfan Pathan, Mrinalini Ravi, Roshan Mathew, Miya George, KS Ravi Kumar, Mohammed Ali Baig and others in crucial roles. A R Rahman has scored the music for the Ajay Gnanamuthu directorial.
While the film's Tamil distribution rights have been bagged by noted actor, producer and politician Udhayanidhi Stalin under Red Giant Movies, the makers of Cobra revealed an update about the status of the Telugu release as well. Leading producer, distributor NV Prasad's NVR Cinema has acquired the Telugu rights of Cobra in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and the film is expected to have a grand release, given Vikram's popularity among crowds here.
Cobra is produced by S.S. Lalit Kumar under Seven Screen Studios while Sony has the music rights for the film. The sci-fi thriller is edited by Bhuvan Srinivasan and cinematographed by Harish Kannan. A Amaran handles production design with Dhilip Subbarayan and Satish Krishnan taking care of action and dance choreography respectively. The story is co-written by Neelan K Shekar, Kannan Sreevasthan, Innasi Pandiyan, Bharath Krishnamachari.
Vikram shared screen space with his son Dhruv in his earlier release Mahaan, helmed by Karthik Subbaraj, that directly premiered on Amazon Prime Video. After Cobra, his next release is the first part of Mani Ratnam's magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan on September 30.
