Panchayat 2 is one of the most popular shows in recent times on OTT. Fans who have been eagerly waiting to catch the new season of the comedy series were in for a delight when the show was released earlier than expected and they have been binge-watching the TVF show on Amazon Prime Video. The show is about the Panchayat secretary of Phulera village, Abhishek Tripathi, played by Jitendra Kumar , who migrates to a village for a job. The show also features Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Saanvika and others. Recently the Sachiv aka Jitendra talked about who could play what in the show if it were made in the 90s.

Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, the actor said there is only one person who could play Sachiv in the 90s and that would be Shah Rukh Khan. He further gave a good thought on the other characters and said Rinki (Saanvika) could have been played by Juhi Chawla. He also thinks Amrish Puri would suit the role of Brij Bhushan Dubey, played by Raghubir Yadav. For the role of Manju Devi, played by Neena Gupta in the series, he thinks Farida Jalal would be the best choice. He was curious to know how Raghubir Yadav, back in the 90s, would portray Banrakas. He said it would be fun to watch him in a negative role, adding that he looks cute and hence, it would be a little unexpected to see him play a role with a negative shade back then.

In an earlier exclusive interview with OTTplay, Jitendra also said that Panchayat could make for a good TV show as well. He said the show might tad a bit long but would still receive the same amount of love and support that it is receiving on OTT. He said the main reason why people are loving the show is because of its simple content.

The show has been reportedly renewed for three more seasons and Jitendra too hopes to see how Abhishek's character will evolve in the show and if he will decide to stay back in the Phulera village or move back to the city with a high-paying job after cracking the CAT exam. He said he is glad that the show is reaching the audience across the globe and he is grateful that he could get an opportunity to showcase his work on such a huge platform.

The actor is now gearing up for Pitchers 2. The shoot will begin in a couple of weeks. He also has Kota Factory season 3 and a few films in the pipeline.
