The team of Ponniyin Selvan has been shuttling across the country promoting the magnum opus in some of the major cities, including Bangalore, Trivandrum, Chennai and Hyderabad. The team was in Mumbai last night where they spoke in length about the contribution of the Cholas to the Tamil history and heritage. Vikram's speech on the same has been doing the rounds on the internet and winning hearts. The film's composer AR Rahman, too, rendered a few lines from Ponni Nadhi during the promotions.

It seems like the team later unwinded at AR Rahman's studio. Sharing a picture from the studio with the team, Rahman captioned it, "Unwinding with heavily loaded #PS1 team at #Mumbai Studio (sic)." The picture has the film's lead cast comprising Vikram, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Trisha along with AR Rahman and director Mani Ratnam. The picture is now going viral on social media. The team had recently travelled in economy class to Mumbai and picture of the same too had hit the internet.

Art direction has been handled by Thota Tharrani, cinematography by Ravi Varman and editing is by Sreekar Prasad. The film has been jointly produced by Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions.

In the meantime, the film has been cleared with U/A certificate by the Censor Board with the runtime of 2 hours 47 minutes. Ponniyin Selvan is an adaptation of Kalki's novel of the same name and will release in two parts. The novel is considered one of the iconic works in Tamil literature. The first part will hit screens on September 30. The film is Mani Ratnam's dream project and the director has been trying to make the film for many years now until things fell into place recently. The shoot for the second part is over and is likely to hit screens in mid-summer 2023.
