The trailer for Prithviraj's film was released on May 9 and it was a huge success. It was held by Yash Raj Films. Since its release, the period drama has already been getting attention.

According to Bollywood Hungama, as the film approaches its release date, Akshay Kumar has not been the director's first choice for the main role, but Sunny Deol was.

The source went on to describe how Sunny Deol and Dwivedi had a lengthy conversation with Prithviraj. They spoke about how the character should appear and how the character should deliver dialogue.

The source said that Dwivedi believed Deol to be the perfect choice for the film. The two had discussed the potential of the actor being in Prithviraj five years ago in Varanasi while they were filming Mohalla Assi.

According to the reports, the true reason why Dwivedi replaced Sunny Deol and hired Akshay Kumar as the lead was because when Yash Raj Films came on board, they did not want to cast Deol since they demanded a more established performer. As a result, Deol was always replaced by Akshay.

The film Prithviraj is based on the true story of brave and strong King Prithviraj Chauhan, who battled heroically to defend India from the cruel invader Muhammad of Ghor.

Prithviraj also stars Manushi Chhillar, Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, and Manav Vij. The movie will be released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu on June 3.
