The news regarding a sequel to Arulnithi-starrer Demonte Colony has been doing the rounds since sometime. Ajay Gnanamuthu, who directed the film in 2015, had confirmed the same recently. However, the filmmaker who made his debut with the movie, said that he will only be writing the story for the second part.
According to an article in TOI, Priya Bhavani Shankar will be seen playing the female lead in the sequel, and Arulnithi will headline the project which would be titled Demonte Colony 2. As Arulnithi's character dies in the climax of the first part, it will be curious to see how makers are planning the sequel.
The project is likely to go on floors in August, and we hear that some of the characters that appeared in the first part will be retained in the sequel as well. The makers have plans to make it as a franchise and Priya's character is expected to be one of the few which will continue in the future installments as well.
Venky Venugopal, who worked with Ajay earlier, will be wielding the megaphone for the movie. Both Arulnithi and Priya Bhavani Shankar have earlier teamed up for Kalathil Santhippom which was released last year.
Arulnithi, who was last seen in the recent release D Block, is arriving with Deja Vu which is hitting the screens next week. Priya Bhavani Shankar's previous outing was Hari's Yaanai which was released a month ago.
Meanwhile, director Ajay Gnanamuthu, who last helmed Imaikaa Nodigal, is ready with the much-awaited movie Cobra, starring Vikram in the lead. The big budget flick has been in the making for a while. The action thriller will mark Vikram's first theatrical release in the pandemic era.
