Punjabi actress Wamiqa Gabbi roped in for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi?

Wamiqa Gabbi has been on a roll. The Punjabi actress had been roped in for Anushka Sharma backed 'Mai' whose shoot she completed a few days back. She has also replaced Mrunal Thakur in the series revolving around Baahubali, where she will play Shivagami Devi. Now, looks like she has landed another big project. We are talking about Sanjay Leela Bhansali starrer Heeramandi.

According to a report in Mid Day, Wamiqa would essay a pivotal role in the film. A source was quoted saying, “Wamiqa recently completed the shoot of Anushka Sharma-backed Mai. Her performance in the series assured the suits at Netflix as well as Bhansali that she could be a fitting addition to Heeramandi. She is expected to begin her prep soon. True to the auteur’s style, his maiden web series will focus on strong women characters, and is said to have 10 actresses in pivotal parts. The project will have extravagant dance-offs.”

There has been no official confirmation of the same and Wamiqa was unavailable for a comment. The series will reportedly also star Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha and Richa Chadha. It has also been reported that actresses like Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla have also been approached. Earlier reports also stated that Alia Bhatt is keen to be a part of the series and is even up to do it for free. The series will stream on Netflix.
