R. Madhavan had once said that Nambi Narayan’s story can be narrated for eight hours straight. The actor might have hinted towards turning the story into a series but according to his latest statement, that is far from the case. This actor-turned-director, in fact, hinted that Rocketry might just turn into franchise films.
Madhavan was talking to Bollywood Hungama when he revealed that while the film wasn’t shot for eight hours, he needs that much time to tell the story. He does find it interesting to consider telling the rest of Nambi Narayan’s struggles and achievements. However, he does not want to limit that to a small-screen.
“Everything he (Nambi Narayan) has done is so larger-than-life. We have done many of the firsts, more than any film before,” Madhavan says, explaining that Rocketry shows a rocket engine too. The actor shares that a rocket engine looks like a diamond.
“If we want to show the rest of the story, there won’t be justice through the small screen. It should be on the larger screen,” Madhavan exclaimed.
The actor has turned a director with the movie which made it to Cannes a few days back. His debut directorial film was screened at the festival and saw a large attendance there.
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect was in the making since a long time. The film was announced in early 2018 and finally, after COVID-19 hurdles, the movie is slated to release in theatres on July 1.
In a more recent news, the Information & Broadcasting ministry is holding a special screening for Rocketry. The movie will be the first Madhavan film in 2022 and the first movie where he acts as well as directs.
