Actor Mahesh Babu is in a fix right now. He could either wait for Rajamouli or go ahead and commit to other projects. It was revealed in June that Mahesh Babu and Rajamouli are collaborating for a movie. But the fans of the star director and superstar might have to wait a bit longer.
A source close to the Baahubali director told Bollywoodhungama.com, “Raja Sir (Rajamouli) is determined to not touch any project until he gets RRR out of the way. Until RRR is in movie theatres, Raja Sir can’t concentrate on any other project.” The source also compared the release of RRR and Rajamouli as a father awaiting the wedding of his dear daughter. It was earlier decided that the shoot will begin in January 2022. But if the COVID-19 situation is still not resolved and the release has to be postponed again, the actor might have to wait for his chance to collaborate with Rajamouli.
RRR stars Jr. Ntr and Ram Charan in lead roles and is made on a heavy budget that exceeds Rs 220 crores. The movie will narrate fictitious exploits of Telugu freedom fighters Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, played by Ram Charan and Jr. Ntr respectively.
The movie also boasts of a star-studded cast with Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt, both marking their Telugu debuts. The movie was scheduled to release on January 25, 2021, but the release date was shifted to October 2021 to coincide with Diwali. But this date was later postponed due to the pandemic. A specific release date is yet to be announced. Although there are rumours that the movie will be released only next year, the makers have not confirmed it.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu is waiting for the release of his movie Sarkaru Vaari Paata and is currently filming for the bilingual movie Major, based on the Mumbai terrorist attack in 2008. He has also finished shooting his untitled project with hitmaker Trivikram Srinivas.
