On the 50th day of Annaatthe, Rajinikanth honoured some of the prime technicians of the movie by presenting them a gold chain. Director Siva, music director Imman, cinematographer Vetri, stunt director Dhilip Subbarayan and editor Ruben were a few of them who were present at the Superstar's home to receive his gift.

All of them took to their social media pages to express happiness over receiving the unexpected gift from Rajinikanth. Imman tweeted, "Such a sweet gesture from Our Superstar @rajinikanth Ayya! To honour the chief technicians of Annaatthe with a Gold chain! His special mention about every craftsmanship was so obliging! Thanks to Siva Sir and @sunpictures Kalanithi Maran Sir! A Memorable Day! Praise God! (sic)."

The movie, which released on November 4, started streaming on Netflix from November 25, three weeks after its theatrical release. Interestingly, the Superstar also took to Hoote app to post two voice notes on the experiences working for the film and the mixed reviews the movie had received upon its release.

He said, "The shooting of Annaatthe began in December 2019. We took a short break after the completion of 35 days' shooting. Our plan was to resume the work in March 2020. But we couldn't do it because of the lockdown enforced due to COVID-19. There was no work for us for nine months. Later, we began shooting in Hyderabad from December 2020. Despite following strict protocols on set, a few crew members tested positive for the virus."

He went on to add that Annaatthe would have performed at the box office even better if not for the heavy rains which lashed Tamil Nadu for a few weeks. He added, "Nevertheless, the movie did well. But it should have fared better. I am reminded of the popular dialogue from Baasha; God keeps testing good people, but he will never let them down."
