Rajinikanth-Nelson Dilipkumar's project to go on floors after April? Fans await an official announcement

Post Siva's Annaatthe (streaming on Netflix), which released in theatres on the occasion of Deepavali in last November, it was expected that Desingh Periyasamy of Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal (streaming on Netflix) will direct Rajinikanth's upcoming project. It was also heard that AGS Productions will bankroll the movie which is the star's 169th film.

A still of Desingh and the CEO of the production house which was released on social media went viral as speculation has been doing the rounds. Desingh had earlier expressed his interest in directing the star and it is a known fact that the young filmmaker is a self-proclaimed fan of the Superstar.

Fans of the star have been eagerly awaiting an official confirmation on the project, and was expecting something on the lines of Petta (streaming on Netflix) which was also directed by the actor's fanboy, Karthik Subbaraj. However, a while ago, it was heard that the project might not take off due to reasons best known to them.

There were murmuring about budget constraints and that the director and production house mutually agreed to part ways. The names of Karthik and Siva surfaced again, though the former was busy with Mahaan and the latter is said to be teaming up with Suriya.

For fans of Rajinikanth who are wondering over their matinee idol's next outing, the latest buzz is that Nelson Dilipkumar of Doctor (streaming on Netflix) fame is likely to be on board next. It is heard that he has already bagged the sensational offer to helm the Superstar.
