777 Charlie was Rakshit Shetty’s much-anticipated film, which was to have come to theatres two years after his last, Avane Srimannarayana. The team had announced December 31, 2021 as its release date well in advance, but as the days wore on and it got closer to the final stretch, there was no word from them. But for the 777 Charlie teaser and the Torture song there was nothing about the film in the public domain, prompting speculation that the film may not make its December 31 date with audiences. The official announcement came several days later, with no particular explanation or an alternate date, but the buzz in industry circles was that the film was postponed as the team was in the process of cracking a deal with a major player for its Bollywood distribution.
In the days since, team 777 Charlie has remained low-key, offering up only a new song – O’Ga. That, it seems, is about to change, as it has come to light that the film has been censored and certified U/A, a proclamation that it is now ready to come to theatres. In fact, along with the news of the censor certification, the team is said to have stated that a release date will be announced shortly. It was earlier speculated that 777 Charlie would opt for a release window between Vikrant Rona (February 24) and KGF Chapter 2 (April 14). But with all the uncertainty surrounding film releases and the present 50% capacity in theatres, it remains to be seen if they will hit theatres in the next couple of months or if the team will wait it out till 100% occupancy is allowed again.
777 Charlie is director Kiranraj K’s directorial debut that’s ben packed by Rakshit’s Paramvah Studios. The film, which explores the life of Dharma and his dog Charlie, through a journey of self-discovery, also stars Sangeetha Sringeri, Bobby Simha, Raj B Shetty and Danish Sait, among others, in pivotal roles. The film has music by Nobin Paul.
