Swastika Mukherjee has been vocal since the start of the protests against the heinous rape and murder incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. She was abroad in the first few days and hence could not be on the street. After coming back, she has been with the protestors. She walked in the rallies and spent nights on the dharna stage at Esplanade. She was still trolled.

Recently, she was trolled for sharing the poster of her Puja film Tekka. She rejected the CM’s call of returning to the Puja. Supporters of the ruling party asked her why she invited people to watch her film then. But Swastika did not pay attention to them.

Swastika shared some black and white photos on social media on Tuesday evening. Those were some candid photos of her in a sleeveless blouse and a cotton saree. They showed her fatty hands and double chin. Those are not at all heroine-like photos, still Swastika shared them. She wrote, “I want to live fighting. Mani-Mamma (her daughter), don’t be sad. You are with me. I perhaps would not share the photos a few months back. My hands seem fatty and my double chin is seen. Now I think, heck to them! Let the protest take place. Let justice come. Then I will concentrate on my body. Time to behave like a heroine will come again.”

Some netizens called for boycotting Tekka in this post. She replied, “Don’t go if you don’t want to. I did not ask you to go. I must announce the release of my film. There are a lot of times. Do troll…no problem.”

A few days back, Swastika went to a rally in Shyam Bazar. She smilingly posed with some people and was trolled by this. She replied by saying ‘I am not Sandip Ghosh. I did not rape or murder. Who ruled it that the men or women, protesting on the street for fifteen hours, have to always make grumpy faces? I will not obey any rule. I will come to the street, day or at night, in whatever way I think is suitable.’
