Juhi Chawla initially worked with Rishi Kapoor on Bol Radha Bol in 1992. Since then, they've collaborated on several projects, and Sharmaji Namkeen was supposed to be the next step in their association. However, fate had other ideas. When Chawla thinks of her co-star, who died in April 2020, she still has a sense of incredulity.
The actor told Mid Day that she was completely shattered. She shared that they were on set just a few months before his death, joking together while Chintuji [Kapoor] called her an insecure actor. He'd scream at Chawla for looking at her scenes on the monitor. She recalls that she used to adore it when he chastised them because that was his way of demonstrating love.
The late actor's persona, who finds his purpose in cooking after retirement, is the subject of Hitesh Bhatia's directorial debut. The experienced actor, according to Chawla, was "tailor-made" for the role.
The Yes Boss actor revealed that they had reading sessions before they started shooting. Kapoor used to say he would depart in half an hour as soon as he arrived. Readings, according to Amitji [Amitabh Bachchan], are beneficial. Kapoor doesn't do things like that.
Chawla went on to say that Chintuji became so engrossed in the reading that he was the last one to leave, adding that it was a thrill to watch him bring his characters to life.
The actor called Kapoor an odd, brash, and fantastic performer who never worried about rehearsals since he felt his lines would come naturally.
Following the renowned actor's death, Paresh Rawal stepped in to finish the Amazon Prime Video film.
Talking about the same, Juhu concluded by saying that Hitesh informed her that because this was Chintuji's final film, they would figure out a way to finish it. She appreciates Pareshji's willingness to help.
Sharmaji Namkeen is premiering on March 31, 2022.
