Aanand L Rai is gearing up for the OTT release of his upcoming directorial titled Atrangi Re. The film is an unconventional love story featuring Akshay Kumar, Dhanush, and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles. Ahead of the Disney+ Hotstar release of Atrangi Re, Rai revealed an interesting story about how he got the title rights from Salman Khan. The filmmaker had revealed earlier that the title belonged to the superstar, and he gave it to him on one condition.

Rai told ETimes that Salman had the title registered to his production company, but he agreed to give it to him on one condition. The director shared that the superstar told his associates that he would only give Rai the title rights if he directed the film; otherwise, they would not have let it go.

The Zero director's forthcoming film after Atrangi Re is Raksha Bandhan, also featuring Akshay in the lead role. Talking about registering a title for it, Rai said that he went from one of his most complicated films, Atrangi Re, to the simplest story of a brother-sister bond, Raksha Bandhan.

The director shared an interesting story about the time he went to the film association to obtain both titles. Atrangi Re said that he didn't get the title, but when he asked for the title of Raksha Bandhan, nobody had even registered the title, even though no one had attempted a story on the subject.

Talking about the premise of Atrangi Re, Vishnu (Dhanush) is compelled to marry Rinku (Sara), a fiery young woman who longs for a swayamvar. The two marry, with the intention of divorcing soon after. Her ex-flame, Sajjad (Akshay), enters her life, and she is torn between the two.

Atrangi Re is set to stream on December 24, 2021.
