Sara Ali Khan has proved that she has what it takes to be a rising star in Bollywood, garnering rave reviews for her performance in her last film Atrangi Re. The actress recently opened up about the kind of films she wants to do and the roles she considers her ‘dream’ projects.

In conversation with ETimes, Khan talked about how box office collections always take a backseat when it comes to what acts as motivators for actors. The actress said that box office collections go to the film’s producers, and were out of the control of actors. So for actors, the most important things were to work with passion and integrity. “Its just important for an actor to be honest and the love of the audience is most important”, she said.

Khan recounted what her Atrangi Re director Aanand L. Rai had told her. Post Atrangi Re’s success, the filmmaker had said that Khan would not enjoy doing ill-conceived characters anymore, and the actress reveals that it held true to her. Khan said that she developed a ‘hunger for good work’ now and was thankful she had good projects coming her way.

The actress also revealed that she wanted to collaborate with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Zoya Akhtar sometime in the future. Khan talked about how she wanted to play a queen in a Bhansali film and a ‘modern girl’ in a film helmed by Akhtar

Khan’s upcoming projects include an untitled film helmed by Laxman Utekar, which will see her share the screen with Vicky Kaushal. The actress said she had an ‘amazing’ and ‘fun’ time working with Kaushal, whom she called ‘talented’ and ‘easy going’

The actress is also working on Gaslit, which also stars Vikrant Massey.
