There were speculation doing the rounds that Selvaraghavan will be playing a pivotal role in Nelson Dilipkumar's Vijay-starrer, even before the makers announced the project's title. And now, it's official; the acclaimed director has come on board for Beast. Sun Pictures, who is bankrolling the action flick, made the announcement on Twitter, much to the delight and surprise of Vijay fans and other movie buffs. A few moments later, the production house also announced the inclusion of Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh and Liliput Faruqui to the cast. Beast will be the fourth film which brings Vijay and Yogi Babu together, after Mersal, Sarkar and Bigil. Shine Tom Chacko, Aparna Ds and Ankur Ajit Vikal are other actors who are part of the cast.
Meanwhile, Selva, who made his acting debut last year with Arun Matheshwaran's Saani Kaayidham, a crime drama set in '80s, will share screen space with Keerthy Suresh in the film. According to sources, Beast will have three antagonists, and the grapevine has it that Selva will play one of them. He has two directorial projects, Naane Varuven and Aayirathil Oruvan 2; his brother and actor Dhanush will play the lead in both the films. The former, which is expected to go on floors soon, will have a change in its title.
The shooting of Beast, which has Pooja Hegde playing the female lead, was halted owing to the second wave of the pandemic. The crew later resumed production from the beginning of July in Gokulam Studios, Chennai, with a song. Jani has been roped in to choreograph dance sequences in the movie, which has cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa. The first look and second look of the much-awaited project was released on Vijay's birthday. Anirudh will score music for a Vijay-starrer for the third time, after the successful Kaththi and Master.
