Gunasekhar's Shaakuntalam arrives in cinema halls as the most sought-after release of the second Friday of April and a lot's got to with the film's leading lady, Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The 35-year-old actress plays the titular role of Shakuntala in the period epic and her fans and fellow moviegoers alike are particularly curious to know how she fares in her very first mythology role. Well, based on the reviews emerging from premiere shows and Samantha's colleagues, there is a lot to look forward to and savour as far as Shaakuntalam is concerned and her performance is, indeed, the main highlight of the experience.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu's Family Man 2 and Citadel directors Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K.) are among those many early admirers of the film and the director duo's latest social media post certainly captures their appreciation. Raj & DK, aside from showering flattering praise on Samantha for her performance, would also acknowledge her tenacity and will to wade through her ongoing difficult health phase and give it all for the benefit of the film, Shaakuntalam.

"Sam, the world knows that the last few months haven't been easy for you, yet you powered through with willpower, determination & grit. You're a total trooper... time and again you've overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. God bless, stay strong & keep the fight on," wrote the directors, having lauded fellow filmmaker Gunasekhar and his team for putting together a 'beautiful film'.

Samantha, who was diagnosed with the auto-immune condition Myositis in October 2022, has alluded to her current health concerns on multiple occasions, adding the adoration of her fans has often given her the strength to see through the tough times. Recently, during the pre-release promotions, the actress revealed that the 'hectic schedules' had taken their toll on her health and shared that she was down with a fever and has also lost her voice. She will next be seen alongside Vijay Devarakonda in the Telugu film Kushi and the Indian iteration of Citadel which also stars Varun Dhawan.
