For an actor there may be more than a few factors that affect their decisions to choose which films to do. For Jersey star Shahid Kapoor, the first thing he considers before taking on a project seems to be his family. The actor recently opened up about how he wanted his family to be ‘proud’ of the work he does.

In conversation with TOI, Kapoor talked about how he wanted to put out the ‘right message’ for his children through his craft. The actor said that when he has to leave home for any project, the first thought that comes into his mind is whether or not his family will be happy with what he does. As he essentially sacrifices the time he could have spent with his family in order to work on films, Kapoor said that he wondered whether they would be ‘proud’ of what he does. “Will they stand up and say that dad we love what you do and we are proud and happy that you went and did it?,” he said.

The actor talked about how he could easily do a number of films which would do great at the box office, but he always considered how his children would feel about the film in the future. He said that he did not ever want to tell his children something like “Beta tab yeh chalta tha,” when they questioned him. More than him showing his children his work, Kapoor wanted his kids to see themselves in the characters he played. The actor said that he would love to see his children ‘connect’ with his characters.

Kapoor was last seen in Gowtam Tinnanuri’s Jersey, which also featured Mrunal Thakur. He will next be seen in a yet to be titled film helmed by Ali Abbas Zafar.
