Yash Raj Films revealed the first look poster of the Ranbir Kapoor starring Shamshera on the actor's 39th birthday today. The makers took it to their Instagram handle and unveiled the new avatar of Ranbir Kapoor. The poster has been warmly received by the excited fans who were glad to see their favourite star in a new look.

The first look poster has Ranbir with ruffled long hair and a scar on his forehead, gazing intently. The movie is directed by Karan Malhotra and pairs up Vaani Kapoor with the actor. Vaani Kapoor said in an earlier interview that the script reminded her of Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit-Nene starrer Khalnayak. We could probably guess that Ranbir might be playing an anti-hero in the movie just like Sanjay did. Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt is cast as a ruthless villain whom Ranbir will have a face-off with. Dutt was last seen in Ajay Devgan’s Bhuj: The Pride of India as Rachordas Savabhai ‘Pagi’, a shepherd who helped the Indian army. Although the movie failed, Sanjay Dutt was praised for playing a strong role.

Karan Malhotra is known for making mass-action movies. He debuted with Hrithik Roshan starrer Agneepath in 2012. His previous work was the action-sports movie Brothers starring Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra in lead roles.

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor is awaiting the release of Shamshera after the 2018 release Sanju which narrated the controversial life of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt and his struggles with drug addiction and terrorist accusations. The actor is also filming for the big-budget superhero movie Brahmastra in which he will be seen alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt and Nagarjuna Akkineni.

The movie Shamshera is set for a theatrical release on March 18, 2022.
