Shark Tank India’s stage proved to be a treasure trove for aspiring entrepreneurs in the country. Both the sharks as well as the entrepreneurs who made their pitches on the show, imparted some important lessons for viewers, applicable in business as well as life. The sharks, in particular, made sure to impart their words of wisdom as well, and even the entrepreneurs who walked away without a deal, received advice from the seasoned businesspersons.

One of the show’s judges, Aman Gupta, has certainly made a name for himself as one of the coolest and most liked sharks on the show. Instantly switching between ‘seasoned business expert’ to ‘fun loving and goofy shark’, Gupta appeared in almost 30 episodes of the business reality show. During his stint on the show, the CMO and co-founder of boAt invested in more than 30 startups. Time and again, the businessman has given entrepreneurs some important lessons in business that seem to hold true in life as well. Here are some of them:

  1. Give reassurance wherever needed

Gupta was never one to hold off showing his softer side on the show. When an entrepreneur was being lambasted by Ashneer Grover, Gupta cut in with the words, “Haan main de dunga, tu tension mat le,” reassuring the entrepreneur that he will definitely get a deal. Sometimes just a few words of reassurance could make a world of a difference to some people, especially when they find themselves in an intimidating environment such as the Shark Tank India stage.

2. Learn to say ‘no’

Gupta’s popular “Mat socho mana kar do” provided a gold mine of material for meme makers. The line also provides an important lesson about knowing one’s worth too. Saying no can prove to be quite difficult for some people but it might be necessary on more than one occasion in our lives when we are confronted with a choice, and we know we can do better.

3. Be confident in your abilities

One of the most important lessons viewers can learn from Gupta is definitely his unwavering confidence in his abilities, backed by his skill and expertise, of course. During a pitch, Ashneer Grover tried to convince an entrepreneur to choose him over Gupta. When the former talked about the vast marketing networks he had, Gupta coolly replied, “Hum bhi bana lenge.” Confidence like his is definitely the first step to making one’s dream a reality.

In addition to Gupta, Shark Tank India’s judges included former BharatPe founder, Ashneer Grover; Shaadi.com founder and CEO, Anupam Mittal; SUGAR Cosmetics CEO and co-founder Vineeta Singh; Lenskart co-founder and CEO, Peyush Bansal; Emcure Pharmaceuticals executive director, Namita Thapar; and MamaEarth co-founder, Ghazal Alagh.
