Shilpa Shetty is gearing up for her highly anticipated release Nikamma. The Sabbir Khan directorial also stars Abhimanyu Dassani and Shirley Setia. Recently, the 47-year-old diva shared a personal tale from her life when her parents called her 'Nikamma.'

According to the latest interview with ETimes, the Bollywood actress unveiled that during her college days, when her mother called her Nikamma when she witnessed her prelims report just before her SSC examination. Shilpa further mentioned that she always wanted to pursue volleyball but knowing her mother's anticipation for her studies the actor worked hard and scored a decent percentage in the exam.

She also revealed to the portal that Nikamma is her come-back film, however, Hungama 2 was released before this one on OTT.

Shilpa is currently filming the Rohit Shetty directorial Indian Police Force, which marks her web series debut. The upcoming action-drama show also stars Sidharth Malhotra, Vivek Oberoi and Isha Talwar in lead roles. Written by Anusha Nandakumar, it has been backed by Rohit Shetty Picturez and Reliance Entertainment. The eight episodic show is slated to drop on Amazon Prime Video in 2023.

Apart from that, Shilpa is also working on a film called Sukhee.

Meanwhile, Nikamma, which is a remake of the 2017 Telugu film Middle Class Abbayi starring Nani, marks the Bollywood debut of Shirley, who is also a renowned singer and composer.

Nikamma follows the story of a handsome young man, who leads an unemployed but fun life, however, a sudden turn of events arises a serious and tense situation in her family that makes him take the charge and fight a few miscreants in the society.

The Sabbir Khan directorial also features Samir Soni and Abhimanyu Singh in key roles. The action-drama movie is set to hit cinemas on June 17.
