Shunning GodFather's release postponement rumours, team kickstarts promotions with Nayanthara's first look

Amidst rumours of Chiranjeevi's GodFather release postponement doing the rounds, the team has reaffirmed its plan to release the much-awaited film for Dasara on October 5. The fans of the star were particularly worried that there has been no concrete effort to build any buzz surrounding the film. Commemorating Onam today, the makers gave them some good news, unveiling the first look of its female lead Nayanthara in the role of Sathyapriya Jaidev.

GodFather, for the unversed, is the official Telugu remake of Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer. In this film, Nayanthara steps into the shoes of Manju Warrier, who played the daughter of a political messaiah in the original. Nayanthara's first look in Lucifer has her donning a traditional, cotton-linen checkered saree, who's busily typing a letter on a typewriter. Is that an indication that the film won't be set in a contemporary timeline and a different era? Be ready to be surprised.

While the original had suggested that Mohanlal and Manju Warrier may have been step-siblings, one isn't sure if that equation would remain the same in the case of Godfather. Salman Khan will be reprising actor, director Prithviraj Sukumaran's role in Lucifer with Satya Dev cast in a role with several negative shades. Sunil too plays a crucial part, as Chiranjeevi's driver in Godfather. Mohan Raja has adapted and directed GodFather. 

RB Choudary and NV Prasad have bankrolled the film under Super Good Films in collaboration with Konidela Productions. Chiranjeevi's better-half Konidela Surekha is the presenter. S Thaman is scoring the music for the project with renowned technician Nirav Shah cranking the camera. Suresh Selvarajan, who also worked for Acharya is the production designer. Lakshmi Bhupal has penned the dialogues. GodFather will clash at the box office with Nagarjuna's The Ghost and the family entertainer Swathimuthyam.
