Hansika is gearing up for her upcoming film, Maha, which has her playing the lead and Silambarasan TR in an extended cameo. The actress was all praise for Silambarasan during the audio launch of the film, which was held yesterday. Speaking on the occasion, Hansika said that Silambarasan was just a phone call away and that he came on board when the team needed him the most. She said, "I want to thank my dear friend Simbu, for coming in literally with just one phone call. It speaks volumes about the star that he is. He stepped into Maha, when we needed him the most . I will be forever be grateful to him." Silambarasan had Hansika had earlier worked together in Vaalu and Vettai Mannan.

During the launch, visuals or a romantic number shot in Goa, starring the duo was screened and the trailer was launched. The film is directed by UR Jameel. Maha marks Hansika's 50th film. Hansika plays a mother in the film and baby Manasvi plays her daughter. The plot revolves around child abuse. One of the posters released by the team has the tagline, 'There is no excuse for child abuse.' The star cast also features Karunakaran and Thambi Ramaiah.

Music for the film is by Ghibran, cinematography is by J Laxman and editing is by John Abraham. The teaser of the film was launched last year, but there was a long delay with the release. The film, is now finally gearing up to hit screens on July 22. Maha is said to be a gripping thriller, bankrolled by Malik Streams Corporation, a production, and distribution company based in Malaysia. The digital rights for the film has been bagged by Aha. Hansika's last release in Tamil was 100, an action entertainer directed by Sam Anton and had Atharvaa playing the lead.
