‘Chandramukhi 2’ starring Kangana Ranaut releases trailer

The highly-anticipated sequel to the hit Tamil film Chandramukhi has finally released its trailer. The trailer features Bollywood star Kangana Ranaut as the titular character, who is on a quest to exact vengeance against her adversaries. The film also stars Sathyaraj, Radhika Sarathkumar, Raghava Lawrence, Mahima Nambiar, Sreenivasan, Lakshmi Menon, Vadivelu among others. The original film, starring Rajinikanth, is a remake of the iconic 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu, which has also been remade in Kannada, Telugu, Bengali, and the Hindi film Bhool Bhulaiyaa, starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan. Chandramukhi 2 is set to release in theatres on 15th September this year.

Akshay Oberoi and Ashnoor Kaur to star in romantic drama ‘Tu Chahiye’

Actor Akshay Oberoi, who is best known for his leading role in Isi Life Mein has been cast in the romantic drama Tu Chahiye. He will star alongside former TV child actress Ashnoor Kaur in the film. Oberoi said in an interview that he will be playing a layered and complex character. He is also set to star in the Siddharth Anand directorial Fighter, starring Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone and Anil Kapoor. Tu Chahiye is expected to begin production soon in Raipur.

Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ expected to break box office records in Tamil Nadu

The highly-anticipated Atllee directorial Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, is set to release in theatres this week on September 8. Filmmaker Atlee, who is renowned for his Tamil blockbusters such as Bigil and Theri, is making his Bollywood debut with Jawan. According to new reports, the combined popularity of Atlee in Tamil Nadu and Shah Rukh Khan’s nationwide appeal could help Jawan become the highest-grossing Hindi film in Tamil Nadu. Other prominent actors in Jawan such as Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, who are immensely popular in the Tamil industry, could also be a factor in bringing audiences to the theatres for Jawan. Ruban Mathivanan of GK Cinemas, Chennai revealed that advance bookings for the film have been strong and it could deliver the same box office numbers as other pan-India films such as RRR and KGF.

Dinesh Vijan’s ‘Diler’ casts Saif Ali Khan’s son Ibrahim Ali Khan

Ibrahim Ali Khan, who was recently cast in his first film in the upcoming thriller Sarzameen, has already signed his next project. His second film will be a romantic drama titled Diler, directed by Kunal Deshmukh. He will join the production once he has completed filming for Sarzameen, but further details surrounding Diler have been kept under wraps. However, it has been revealed that Khan will star alongside Kajol and South star Prithviraj Sukumaran for his upcoming debut in Sarzameen.

Peter Sarsgaard and Billy Magnussen to star in the satirical film 'Coup!'

Hollywood stars Peter Sarsgaard and Billy Magnussen are set to star in a satirical comedy Coup!. The latest sneak peek for the film revealed that actress Sarah Gordon will play a prominent role in the project. The Austin Stark and Joseph Schuman directorial is a period drama set in the US during the 1918 Spanish Flu and will focus on the shortcomings in the class system. Coup! will premiere at the Venice Festival on September 9, but does not have a theatrical release date as yet.

‘The Last of Us’ showrunner working on ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ reboot

Craig Mazin, the showrunner of critically-acclaimed TV shows such as Chernobyl and The Last of Us, has revealed that he was working on the Pirates of the Caribbean reboot prior to the strikes in Hollywood. He added that he wrote a ‘weird and exciting’ script for the film along with Ted Elliot, who has worked on the previous installments of the franchise. It is unclear if or when production for the film will commence, amidst the ongoing strikes, and Johnny Depp’s future in the franchise also remains uncertain following well-publicised and controversial legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard.
