Batgirl canceled by WB

The highly anticipated superhero film Batgirl, which was about to enter post-production has been canceled by Warner Bros. The shocking news comes in the wake of the media giant’s lackluster showing at this year’s San Diego Comic Con recently. The move could be a sign of an overhaul of WB’s DC slate after the WB Discovery merger. It was also announced that Ben Affleck is returning as Batman, with speculation about Michael Keaton’s return as Batman in serious doubt. Keaton was supposed to appear in both Batgirl and The Flash as Batman. Meanwhile, WB are yet to decide the fate of The Flash after its lead Ezra Miller has become embroiled in various controversies.

Road House remake to star Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead

Patrick Swayze’s iconic 1989 action film, Road House, is being remade with Jake Gyllenhaal set to play the lead. The film will feature Gyllenhaal as an ex-UFC fighter who is hired as a bouncer, but soon realizes that his new surroundings are not as pleasant as he had hoped. The film will also feature Billy Magnussen and Daniela Melchior, the breakout star from The Suicide Squad.

The Driver drama series announces cast

The upcoming drama series by AMC titled The Driver has added Riverdale star Skeet Ulrich to its cast. He will be joined by AMC’s Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul star Giancarlo Esposito. The series is a British remake of the same name with Esposito playing the lead. The plot revolves around a taxi driver who is unexpectedly thrust into a dangerous predicament when he becomes the chauffeur for a Zimbabwean gangster based out of New Orleans.

Fargo season 5 to commence filming

FX’s critically acclaimed black comedy crime drama series Fargo is set to begin filming for its fifth season. Created by Noah Hawley, the anthology series is inspired by the Coen brothers' film of the same name. The fifth season will again follow stories of crime and murder in Fargo, North Dakota. The new season will star Ted Lasso alum Juno Temple and Mad Men star John Hamm.

Animated reboot for Everybody Hates Chris announced

The autobiographical sitcom Everybody Hates Chris, about comedian Chris Rock is set to be rebooted as an animated series. Rock will serve as the narrator of the upcoming series. The original series starred Tyler James Williams as a younger version of Rock in 2005 chronicling Rock’s life in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.

New thriller series, The Veil, adds Elisabeth Moss as lead

Multiple Emmy award-winning star of The Handmaid's Tale, Elisabeth Moss has been cast as the lead in the upcoming thriller series, The Veil. The FX/Hulu limited series will be helmed by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight. The plot is set across Europe revolving around the tumultuous relationship between two women where one’s secrets could cost lives.
