Moving on, Eddie Murphy has signed a three-picture deal with Amazon Prime after previously collaborating with the platform for the Coming to America sequel released earlier this year. The veteran star who shot to fame in the 80s and the 90s has enjoyed a renaissance of late with critically acclaimed films such as Dolemite Is My Name.
Next up, on today's Sizzling Samachar, Warner Bros has announced that the much-awaited third installment in the Fantastic Beasts series is titled The Secrets of Dumbledore. The studio also added that the theatrical release has been bumped up by three months. Earlier slated for July 15, 2022, the film will now premiere in April next year. Harry Potter alum David Yates will once again return to the director’s chair.
The third film will take the story forward from Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, where Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald posited that Credence was no one but Professor Albus Dumbledore’s brother. Drunk with power, Grindelwald will now confront Dumbledore to take over the wizarding world.
In other news, George Clooney's upcoming directorial venture has found a release date as well. Titled The Tender Bar, the film will star Hollywood A-listers Ben Affleck and Christopher Llyod, along with Tye Sheridan and Lily Rabe. It’s Clooney’s directorial follow-up to The Midnight Sky on Netflix, which upon release, garnered less than favourable reviews.
Tender Bar is slated to hit the US theatres on 22 December and will be followed by an OTT premiere on Amazon Prime Video next year on 7 January.
Oscar-winner William Monahan has penned the screenplay from Pulitzer Prize-winning author J.R. Moehringer’s memoir, which centres around a boy who seeks out father figures in men visiting his uncle’s bar.
Onto some Kevin Hart news, After a bland attempt at family comedy with Fatherhood, Kevin Hart is set to return to movies with director F. Gary Gray in yet another Netflix film titled Lift. The first-time collaborators will narrate the story of a master thief who teams up with his girlfriend to steal $100 million worth of gold on an international flight. Reports suggest the shooting of the movie will begin early next year.
Hart is also filming another Netflix film in the meantime, named Me Time, with Mark Wahlberg. The film is about another dad whose life is upended when he takes a weekend off to reconnect with his best friend.
From Hollywood to some desi news now, Six years after their last collaboration, Malayalam actor Dileep and director Rafi are teaming up again for Voice of Sathyanathan. The film, the director exclusively tells OTTplay, will be set in a village and see Dileep as the owner of a furniture shop. “He is a people pleaser, who flatters people and doesn’t often speak the truth. He only says things that others are happy to hear,” Rafi says, describing the character. The film also stars Joju George and Veena Nandakumar in key roles.
Dileep and Rafi have earlier worked on hit projects like Punjabi House, Thenkasipattanam, and Two Countries.
