The upcoming Hindi adaptation of The Night Manager is shaping up to have quite a formidable cast on board. After it was confirmed that Aditya Roy Kapur will star in the series, it is now announced that Sobhita Dhulipala too will join the actor as part of the show’s cast.
Dhulipala reportedly will play the female lead opposite Kapur and she had been in talks to be a part of the upcoming show for quite some time, even back when reports had speculated about Hrithik Roshan’s involvement in it. A source close to the development revealed, "The makers were on the lookout for a seasoned actor to play Elizabeth Debicki from the original with utmost conviction and they have locked Sobhita to play the part now."
Roshan was initially been roped in to play the lead in the show, but plans for the same had ultimately fallen out due to scheduling conflicts. It was only confirmed last month that Kapur will be replacing Roshan in the series, which had started shooting in Sri Lanka.
The upcoming web series is an adaptation of the Emmy Award-winning British limited series of the same name, which aired in 2016. Based on John le Carré’s 1993 novel, the series follows the story of a former soldier named Jonathan Pine, who is the manager of a luxury hotel in Cairo. Pine is recruited by a government official on a mission to infiltrate the inner circle of a dangerous weapons dealer, Richard Roper. The series stars Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman and Elizabeth Debicki, among others.
While Kapur will essay the role of Pine, who was portrayed by Hiddleston in the original, Dhulipala will play the character who was originally portrayed by Debicki. Anil Kapoor will also be a part of the upcoming six-episode series, which is expected to release on Disney+Hotstar sometime this year.
