Suriya recently bagged the Best Actor Award for Sudha Kongara's Soorarai Pottru

Soorarai Pottru actor Suriya was recently spotted in the Chennai airport when he returned home after his trip in the US. The actor had celebrated his 48th birthday in the US and pictures from the trip had surfaced on the internet from time to time where the actor was seen having some quality time with his family. Suriya was seen dressed in casuals at the airport and rushing to his car. But, an ardent fan of the actor managed to click a picture of the actor and shared it on social media. Since then the picture is being ardently circulated by fans of the actor.
In the meantime, Suriya is basking in the win of his first National Award for Best Actor for his performance in director Sudha Kongara's Soorarai Pottru. The plot is loosely based on the life of low-cost airline founder Captain GR Gopinath. Soorarai Pottru bagged five awards in total at the 68th National Film Awards, which included Best Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay and Best Background Score. In a statement released after winning the award, Suriya had said that the award has given him the motivation to work harder and walk his talk.
On the work front, Suriya is all set to resume the work for his next with his mentor, director Bala. The film, titled Vanangan, is said to revolve around the fishermen community and Suriya is said to be playing a fisherman in the film. While the first schedule in Kanyakumari has been wrapped up, the next schedule is all set to begin in Goa. He has also Vaadi Vaasal, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Vetri Maaran. A video about Suriya's preparation for his character was recently released. The actor has bought two bulls to train for the part and has been undergoing extensive training for his character with jallikattu fighters. The video has piqued the curiosity among Suriya fans.
