Suku Purvaj’s genre-bender Maataraani Mounamidhi gets a release date

Director Suku Purvaj, who shot to fame with Shukra last year, is back with a new film Maatarani Mounamidhi. Two debutants Mahesh Datta and Soni Srivastava play the leads in the film. Touted to be a romantic thriller with a mishmash of other genres, the film, which has already wrapped its shoot many months ago, is gearing up for a release. The makers have announced the film’s release date today.

Currently wrapping its post-production formalities, Maatarani Mounamidhi will hit theatres on August 19. Ashir Luke is the composer of the film. Two songs from the film, Ee Rojedhoo and Dhampudu Lakshmi, have impressed music buffs and netizens alike. The glimpse of the film has already garnered close to a million views. Madhura Audio had bagged the music rights.

The director who’s content about the response he witnessed for Shukra is confident that Maatarani Mounamidhi will draw crowds to theatres in abundance. “We are releasing the film after all the biggies hit theatres in the season. We feel the timing is apt,” he says. Archana Ananth, Suman Shetty, Srihari Udayagiri, Sanjeev, Keshav and others play important roles in the film as well.

Sivaram Charan cranks the camera for the film while it’s edited by Shiva Sarvani. Rudra Pictures and PCR Group are bankrolling the film. Maatarani Mounamidhi is hitting theatres a week after Macherla Niyojakavargam, Karthikeya 2 and a week before Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger. In honest terms, the film has only a week’s time to make a strong impact and impress viewers.

Maataraani Mounamdhi will clash with Aadi Saikumar’s action entertainer Tees Maar Khan on August 19. While Tees Maar Khan is certainly a frontrunner, the success of Maataraani.. is largely dependent on strong word of mouth. Expect heightened promotional activity from both the teams in the coming days.
