The stand-up comedian Sumaira Shaikh is all set to get you rolling on the floor laughing with her first special, Dongri Danger. The special will be about Dawood, gangsters, Mayyat and more. The show will be out on Amazon Prime Video.
The makers have announced the show along and released a trailer today. The trailer shares glimpses of the special and looks promising as the people in the audience burst out laughing at her jokes about road trips and gangsters. Watch the trailer here:
The official description reads, "Born in the gullies of Mumbai 9, Sumaira’s dark observations on what is your rank in your friend's group, how tsunamis are the best relaxation videos and how her father once met Dawood, will leave you in splits and make you uncomfortable."
The comedian and writer, Shaikh said in her statement that she has been developing the content for the show since 2017 but it all worked out recently. "Writing fiction has taken me one step closer to finding my voice. I have classic observational bits on what’s your rank in a group or how Tsunami water going back is the best relaxation video, but I have also explored storytelling by talking about growing up in Dongri or how my relatives judged me more at my brother’s funeral than at any wedding I have attended," she said adding that she is confident that her show will be loved and appreciated by the audience as much as the live audience did.
She further talked about her association with the streaming giant Amazon Prime Video. She believes Prime Video is where it all began for her. She was one of the writers on Sumukhi Suresh's show Pushpavalli. “It only makes sense that my first stand-up special is on Amazon Prime Video since this is where it all began for me. A comic’s first stand-up special is like her/his wedding, so basically, I am putting up my wedding video," she said.
The stand-up special Dongri Danger is directed by the comedian Sumukhi Suresh and produced by OML Entertainment and Motormouth Writers. The show will be out on Prime Video on February 25.
