Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan's latest release, Vikram, hit screens on June 3 and has crossed 25 days at the box office. The film, which has Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil sharing screenspace with the actor, also has a special appearance by Suriya. Suriya played the character Rolex, and his cameo was said to be one of the highlights of Vikram. The audience were so impressed by the role, that Kamal Haasan went on to gift him a luxury watch.

Talking about Suriya's appearance in Vikram, producer K E Gnanavel Raja, who is related to Suriya's family, said to a YouTube channel that he was first against Suriya making a guest role in a film as he thought that such appearances dilute the artistes credibility. He added that but when he learnt that the cameo was in Kamal Haasan's Vikram, he took the news positively.

He stated that Suriya is happy that he was part of one of Kamal Haasan's biggest hits and added that he was equally happy, too. He also lauded Kamal Haasan for giving actors that kind of space and hoped that there would be more such opportunities.

Vikram managed to keep the news of Suriya's special appearance under the wraps for a very long time. It was during the audio and trailer launch that the film's director Lokesh Kanagaraj confirmed his presence. The trailer also had a sneak peek of the actor in it. He later shared a picture of Suriya with Vikram team and captioned it, "More than Happy to welcome @Suriya_offlSir 馃 Into the World of #Vikram 馃敟@ikamalhaasan @RKFI #VikramFromJune3 (sic). "

Vikram is emerging as a huge hit across the world, and has already surpassed the collection of Bahubali 2: The Conclusion, directed by SS Rajamouli and continues to run to packed shows in movie halls everywhere.
